Seychelles has stolen my heart - Again

Last September Tracy, a co-founder of The Charter Lounge, joined friends on a trip to The Seychelles for a reboot and relax! The group of eight enjoyed a 10 day charter from Mahé on a Leopard 44 with Colin (Tracy’s Husband) as their skipper.

After a little persuasion and a lot of organising for our first time chartering buddies, Colin and I had gotten a group of eight together to enjoy The Seychelles! Knowing that we were heading back to our most favourite place on this planet after so many years and with these very special friends, notched our excitement up to new levels.

They say you shouldn't try and repeat a great experience as your expectations will be too high. Well, I beg to differ! This was our sixth trip to Seychelles and it blew us away, again!

So off we went all armed with cosi's, sarongs, board shorts and booze - oh and some fly fishing gear, more fly fishing gear and for good measure, a little more fly fishing gear.

The start wasn't great - however, the ever stuffy JHB airport with long queues did not get our spirits down, landing after dark on Mahé (a timing issue that AirSeychelles has yet to remedy for the RSA flights), our hire car turning out to be a skadonk with its suspension sagging under our load and an elusive boat at the marina. But we turned it all into an adventure and all fell quickly into place. After finding our boat lit-up and waiting for us on the dock, we settled into our beautiful water chariot, a Leopard 44, knowing that we had truly arrived in paradise.

Waking up on our first morning it's impossible to describe the colour of the water and that feeling when realise you have immersed yourself. The beauty of the mountains and forests give you the feeling that you just have to get out and see it all.  Sunrise on Mahé showed our mates - who had never been to Seychelles nor chartered before - the splendour of the blue, the imposing and spectacular granite peaks, Eden Island marina and it was all suddenly very much a reality.

It's impossible to bring to words just how beautiful this place is! - You'll just have to go there to find out.

After a quick shop, loading the boat with supplies, boat briefing and handover from the marina crew, we were outta there heading to the islands and so the fun began.

Each day something amazing. Each sunrise, each sunset, each bay, beach or island continued to be impossibly better. For us, my hubby and I, already knowing and loving the place, the added joy of watching our mates at each new wonder was just the cherry on top.

We laughed so much, cooked up a storm almost every day, snorkelled, walked, painted, solved all the worlds problems over Pina Coladas with our feet in the sand, swam with turtles, tanned and yes, fly fished. The team very quickly fell into the rhythm of living on board and we enjoyed the simple, blissful and easy lifestyle that comes with chartering.

We experienced 10 days (don't go for less) of pure magic. Now, all we can do is start planning for the next one - but this time we won't wait so long!
